The Cats
Mike Laughbaum
Ken Herrera
Joe Godfrey
Guitar & Vocals. Mike is a veteran of San Diego's music scene. A graduate of UCSD's Music program, he has led a series of blues and rock bands. He held the weekend gig on the Bahia Belle for almost 20 years, mixing Stevie Ray Vaughn covers with classic rock favorites. Hard to say which he likes more - his collection of guitars or his amp stack. Fortunately Tube Snake gives him the chance to use both.
Drums & Vocals. Ken has been drumming and playing percussion instruments from an early age both here in the United States and Over Seas. While attending college in Texas he fell into the Texas Blues music scene. He got to see many of the great artists in person, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Winter, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and of course “That Little Ol’ Band from Texas” … ZZ Top. Like Frank Beard, Ken knows it's all about the groove.
Bass & Vocals. Joe is a composer/producer and an accomplished guitarist and bassist. He ran a music production company for 30 years, writing music for ads, corporate films, TV and movies. First in Chicago then in San Diego and LA. Then he got into education - taught for a while then became the Dean of the audio program at The Art Institute in San Diego. Now he teaches a soundtracks class at UCSD. Fun fact - Joe is the bass player for Mitch and Mickey in Chris Guest's movie A Mighty Wind.
