Lots of bands cover ZZ Top songs. Tube Snake Boogie is a tribute band. We want our set to be as close to the real thing as we can deliver. Here are some examples.
Mike uses two guitars and two amps to get the right sound for each song. "Cheap Sunglasses" uses a heavily processed bamboo-sounding percussion sample. When it's time for that sound in the song, Ken triggers a sample from an Octapad. Joe runs his P Bass through a MacBook Pro running Logic to get Dusty's "fart in a trash can" sound. Mike learned and plays Billy's solos note for note, on every song. Billy and Dusty have a lot of signature moves that Mike and Joe replicate. Yeah, even the chicken legs. So from the sound to the look to the banter between songs we're striving for authenticity. We're not just a cover band.
